ਗਰਬੀ ਰਾਇ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਤਿਹ ਲਹਿਯੋ ॥

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮੈਨ ਦੇਹ ਕੌ ਦਹਿਯੋ ॥

taa kee main dheh kau dhahiyo ||

On the sight of a Gharbi Rai, she felt her passions rousing.

One of the maids came to know the secret and went and told Sughar Kumari’

pauaddee kahaa meet sau payaaree ||

ਤੋ ਪਰ ਕਰੀ ਰਾਵ ਰਖਵਾਰੀ ॥੧੧॥

to par karee raav rakhavaaree ||11||

‘Here you are sleeping with the friend, and Raja has put the guards on all four sides.(11)

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਜਤਨ ਅਬੈ ਕਛੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

taa te jatan abai kachh keejai ||

ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਰਾਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੋ ਲੀਜੈ ॥

praan raakh preetam ko leejai ||

‘Now conceive some plan to save the life of your lover.

ਜੌ ਯਹ ਹਾਥ ਰਾਵ ਕੇ ਐਹੈ ॥

jau yeh haath raav ke aaihai ||

ਤੋਹਿ ਸਹਿਤ ਜਮ ਧਾਮ ਪਠੈਹੈ ॥੧੨॥

toh sahit jam dhaam paThaihai ||12||

‘If he is apprehended by Raja, he will, immediately, be sent to the domain of death.(12)
