Terms of Service

Effective September 5, 2026.

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully. These Terms govern your access to and use of the Simran mobile application (the "App"), provided by FocusPledge LLC ("FocusPledge," "we," "us," or "our"), a California limited liability company, 20289 Stevens Creek Blvd #1261, Cupertino, CA 95014, United States.

By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction (or below the age of digital consent where you live), you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf and consents to your use of the App.

Sangat, the App's community space, is available only to users who are at least 13 years old, or at least 16 years old if you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. Parental consent does not extend to Sangat below those ages.

2. The Service

Simran provides access to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Daily Hukamnama, AI-assisted Shabad interpretations and spiritual guidance, and Sangat, a community space where members can share with one another. AI responses are generated by third-party AI models, and Sangat content is automatically reviewed and translated by third-party AI models. Your queries and your Sangat content are not used to train AI models; see our Privacy Policy for details on how your data is handled.

3. Accounts

  • You may use parts of the App as a guest; some features require an account.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • You may delete your account at any time in the App's settings. Account deletion removes your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Taking part in Sangat requires an account and a Sangat profile (a display name and, optionally, a photo). Your display name and photo must be your own and must not present you as another person, a Guru Sahib, Waheguru, or a Sikh institution.

4. Subscriptions, Billing, and Refunds

  • Premium features. Certain features of the App require a paid subscription. Available plans, prices, and any free trial terms are displayed in the App before you purchase.
  • Billing. Subscriptions are purchased through and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), or, if offered, through our web checkout provider. We do not receive or store your full payment details.
  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Free trials. If a plan includes a free trial, your subscription begins (and billing starts) when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
  • Cancellation. You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings (or, for web purchases, through the account management link we provide). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then. Deleting the App or your account does not cancel a store subscription.
  • Refunds. Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are subject to Apple's or Google's refund policies, and refund requests must be directed to them. To the extent permitted by law, payments are otherwise non-refundable.
  • Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Changes apply no earlier than your next billing period, and we (or the app store) will notify you in advance as required; if you do not agree, you may cancel before the change takes effect.

5. License to Use the App

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, FocusPledge grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App for your personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control, as permitted by the applicable app store's usage rules.

6. Intellectual Property Rights

  • A. Our Content: All content, features, and functionality of the App, including original Shabad interpretations, the design and structure of the AI companion, text, graphics, logos, and proprietary code, are the exclusive property of FocusPledge LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
  • B. Sacred Content: The sacred Sikh scriptures (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Hukamnama, and Shabads) presented within the App are historical religious texts. FocusPledge makes no claim of ownership over the original sacred texts themselves.
  • C. Restrictions: You agree not to copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App or its intellectual property, and not to reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except to the extent applicable law permits it despite this restriction.

7. User Content and Feedback

  • A. Spiritual Queries. You retain any rights you have in the queries and messages you submit to the AI companion. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to process, reproduce, and transmit your queries solely as needed to operate the App and provide the service to you (including transmitting them to our AI provider to generate a response). We do not use your queries to train AI models, and this license ends when the content is deleted (for example, when you delete your account), except for copies retained as required by law.
  • B. Feedback. If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the App, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use them for any purpose without obligation to you.
  • C. Sangat Content. Sangat is a community space in which content you share is shown to other users of the App. This sub-section applies to everything you share in Sangat, including your display name and profile photo ("Sangat Content").
    1. Ownership and license. You retain any rights you have in your Sangat Content. You grant FocusPledge a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, translate, adapt for display, and distribute your Sangat Content to users of the App, and to review it automatically against these Terms and the Sangat rules, for the purpose of operating and improving Sangat. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained in backups for a limited period or as required by law. We do not use Sangat Content to train AI models.
    2. Your responsibilities. You are responsible for your Sangat Content. You represent that you own it or have the right to share it, that it is accurate as to your identity, and that it complies with these Terms and the Sangat rules.
    3. Sangat rules. The Sangat rules published at simranapp.com/sangat-rules form part of these Terms. We may update them from time to time in the same way as these Terms.
    4. Public nature. Sangat Content is visible to other users of the App, including guests. Where the App offers it, you may share an item without your name; that item is still subject to these Terms.
    5. Our rights. We may review, remove, restrict, or decline to display any Sangat Content, and may restrict or suspend a user's ability to take part in Sangat, where we believe in good faith that the content or the user's conduct violates these Terms or the Sangat rules, creates risk for other users, or exposes us to liability. We have no obligation to monitor Sangat Content, and we do not endorse it.
    6. Other users' content. Content shared by other users reflects their own views and experience. We do not verify it and are not responsible for it. Automated translations are provided for convenience and may be inaccurate.
    7. Reporting and blocking. You can report content and block users in the App. You agree to use these tools in good faith and not to report content merely because you disagree with it.

8. Spiritual Content Disclaimer

  • A. Educational and Spiritual Use: The App provides content, interpretations, and spiritual guidance derived from the Guru Granth Sahib Ji for educational and inspirational purposes only. The App is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified Sikh scholar (Giani/Granthi) or community leader, and its output does not constitute an official religious edict.
  • B. AI-Generated Content: AI responses are generated automatically and may contain errors or interpretations you disagree with. While we strive for spiritual authenticity and accuracy, we do not guarantee that content, interpretations, Hukamnama readings, or AI responses are error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular individual or religious decision. Reliance on the App's content is at your own discretion.
  • C. Community Content: Reflections, prayers, answers, and other content shared by members of Sangat are personal expressions of the individuals who share them. They are not reviewed by a Sikh scholar, do not represent the views of FocusPledge, and do not constitute religious guidance.

9. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose, or to engage in any activity that:

  • Violates any applicable law, regulation, or ordinance.
  • Infringes our intellectual property rights or those of others.
  • Harasses, abuses, harms, defames, or discriminates on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, or disability.
  • Transmits malware, viruses, or any code of a destructive nature.
  • Interferes with, disrupts, or attempts to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems, or circumvents subscription requirements.
  • Uses automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the App or extract its content, or to post, like, report, or otherwise interact in Sangat.
  • In Sangat: shares content that violates the Sangat rules; impersonates any person, a Guru Sahib, Waheguru, or a Sikh institution; discloses another person's personal information; promotes any product, service, business, link, event, petition, or fundraising; uses the reporting or blocking tools in bad faith; or attempts to circumvent our content review.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App, or restrict or suspend your ability to take part in Sangat, if you materially breach these Terms or the Sangat rules, if required by law, or if we discontinue the App or Sangat. Where practicable, we will provide notice. You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. Sections 6, 7.B, 7.C.1 (as to copies retained), 8, and 11 through 15 survive termination. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as required by law or the applicable app store's policies.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL FOCUSPLEDGE LLC, ITS MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM (i) YOUR ACCESS TO, USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP; (ii) ANY CONTENT OBTAINED FROM THE APP; OR (iii) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE AND (b) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

13. App Store Terms

If you downloaded the App from Apple's App Store, you acknowledge that: these Terms are between you and FocusPledge only, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App; in the event of the App's failure to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation); Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, and consumer protection claims; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Equivalent terms apply to Google with respect to Google Play. You agree to comply with the applicable app store's terms of service.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose laws grant you mandatory protections, nothing in these Terms deprives you of those protections.

15. Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute with us, contact us first at [email protected]; most concerns can be resolved informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court, and nothing prevents you from bringing issues to the attention of consumer protection agencies. Any claim must be brought within one (1) year after it arises, where permitted by law.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes by posting the updated Terms in the App and updating the Effective Date above, and where required, by additional notice. Changes apply prospectively. By continuing to use the App after revisions become effective, you agree to the revised Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the App and cancel any subscription.

17. General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Sangat rules, are the entire agreement between you and FocusPledge regarding the App. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
