ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹੂੰ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਚਾਹਤ ਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ ॥

She loved Raja too, which enhanced Raja’s love for her.

ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਭੀ ਐਸੀ ॥

dhuhoo(n)an param preet bhee aaisee ||

ਸੀਤਾ ਸੋ ਰਘੁਨਾਥਨ ਵੈਸੀ ॥੪॥

seetaa so raghunaathan vaisee ||4||

The love of both of them was epitome of the love of (legendary) Sita and Rama.(4)

ਏਕ ਹੇਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਰਾਵ ਲੁਭਾਨੋ ॥

ਨਿਜੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਸੰਗ ਨੇਹ ਘਟ ਮਾਨੋ ॥

Once, Raja was enticed coming across another woman and lessened his affection for the Rani.

ਜਬ ਇਹ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

jab ieh kirasan kuar sun paiee ||

ਰਾਜਾ ਪੈ ਚਿਤ ਤੇ ਖੁਨਸਾਈ ॥੫॥

raajaa pai chit te khunasaiee ||5||

When Krishna Kunwar realised this, she was infuriated.(5)

ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਚਿਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਿਸਾਈ ॥

kirasan kuar chit adhik risaiee ||

ਮਨ ਮੈ ਘਾਤ ਯਹੈ ਠਹਰਾਈ ॥

man mai ghaat yahai Thaharaiee ||

Krishna Kunwar was enraged and she decided in her mind,

ਦੁਹਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਆਜੁ ਸੁ ਕਰਿਹੋ ॥

dhuhakar kar mai aaju su kariho ||

ਨ੍ਰਿਪਹ ਸੰਘਾਰਿ ਆਪੁ ਪੁਨਿ ਮਰਿਹੋ ॥੬॥

nirapeh sa(n)ghaar aap pun mariho ||6||

‘I will undertake the arduous job of killing Raja and annihilate myself.(6)

ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਚਿਤ ਤੇ ਜਰੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਿਸਾਇ ॥

The Rani was so much maddened in her mind,

ਜ੍ਯੋਂ ਸੀਸੋ ਸਰ ਕੇ ਲਗੇ ਤੂਟਿ ਤਰਕ ਦੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥

jayo(n) seeso sar ke lage tooT tarak dhai jai ||7||

That she cracked like glass.(7)

ਪਠੈ ਦੂਤ ਰਾਜੈ ਤੁਰਤ ਲੀਨੀ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥

paThai dhoot raajai turat leenee tarun bulai ||

The Raja sent an emissary and invited that woman.

ਗਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਹਰਿ ਝਖ ਕੇਤੁ ਕੋ ਸੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੮॥

garab prahar jhakh ket ko soi rahai sukh pai ||8||

And, after shattering the ego of the Cupid, he felt blissful.(8)

ਜਬ ਐਸੇ ਰਾਨੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

jab aaise raanee sun paiee ||

ਜਮਧਰ ਲਏ ਹਾਥ ਮੋ ਆਈ ॥

jamadhar le haath mo aaiee ||

When the Rani heard this, she raided the place brandishing a sword.

ਬਿਸਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

bisan si(n)gh pat pratham sa(n)ghaariyo ||

ਤਾ ਪਾਛੇ ਤਿਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੋ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੯॥

taa paachhe teh tiray ko maariyo ||9||

She first murdered her husband, Bishan Singh, and then the woman.(9)

ਮਾਰਿ ਮਾਸ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਤਵਨ ਕੋ ਰਾਧਿ ਲਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਕਾਲ ॥

maar maas tiray tavan ko raadh layo teh kaal ||

After killing her she cooked her meat instantly,

ਸਦਨ ਏਕ ਉਮਰਾਵ ਕੇ ਭੇਜ ਦਯੋ ਤਤਕਾਲ ॥੧੦॥

sadhan ek umaraav ke bhej dhayo tatakaal ||10||

And sent that to the house of another Raja.(10)

ਮਾਸ ਜਾਨਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਤੁਰਤ ਚਾਬਿ ਗਏ ਸਭ ਸੋਇ ॥

maas jaan taa ko turat chaab ge sabh soi ||

Considering it genuine cooked-meat, they all devoured it,

ਭਲੋ ਭਲੋ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧੧॥

bhalo bhalo sabh ko kahai bhedh na paavai koi ||11||

And none ofthem could discern the mystery.(11)

ਹਾਥ ਪਾਵ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੇ ਸਕਲ ਸੰਗ ਮੁਤਹਰੀ ਤੋਰਿ ॥

haath paav nirap ke sakal sa(n)g mutaharee tor ||

Then, with the a bludgeon, she repeatedly hit (dead-body of) Raja,

ਸੀੜਨ ਪਰ ਤੇ ਆਨਿ ਕੈ ਦਯੋ ਧਰਨਿ ਕਹ ਛੋਰਿ ॥੧੨॥

seeRan par te aan kai dhayo dharan keh chhor ||12||

And pushed him to roll down on the ground.(12)

ਮਦਰਾ ਕੇ ਮਦ ਸੋ ਛਕ੍ਯੋ ਉਰ ਜਮਧਰ ਕੀ ਖਾਇ ॥

madharaa ke madh so chhakayo ur jamadhar kee khai ||

He had been extremely under the influence of wine, when he was hit with dagger,

ਸੀੜਿਨ ਤੇ ਖਿਸਕਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਧਰਨਿ ਪਰ ਆਇ ॥੧੩॥

seeRin te khisakat nirapat pariyo dharan par aai ||13||

Now he was pushed and he was thrown down the stairs.(13)

ਸ੍ਰੋਨਤ ਸੋ ਭੀਜਤ ਭਈ ਸਕਲ ਧਰਨਿ ਸਰਬੰਗ ॥

sronat so bheejat bhiee sakal dharan saraba(n)g ||

All the ground around him was drenched in blood,

ਆਨਿ ਤਰੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਲਗੇ ਕਟਾਰੀ ਅੰਗ ॥੧੪॥

aan tare raajaa pariyo lage kaTaaree a(n)g ||14||

As he had been killed with a dagger.(14)

ਜਬ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਮਰਿਯੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿ ਲਖਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥

jab nirap mariyo tirayeh lakh paayo ||

ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਦੁਖਿਤ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥

bhaat bhaat havai dhukhit sunaayo ||

(Pretending) When the woman saw the dead-body of Raja, she started to express her anguish,

ਕੌਨ ਕਾਲ ਗਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥

kauan kaal gat karee hamaaree ||

ਰਾਜਾ ਜੂ ਚੁਭਿ ਮਰੇ ਕਟਾਰੀ ॥੧੫॥

raajaa joo chubh mare kaTaaree ||15||

And shouted, ‘What has Kaal, the god of death, done to me?’ ‘Raja has died by hitting a dagger.’(15)

ਜਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਦੀਨ ਉਘਾਯੋ ॥

jab raanee havai dheen ughaayo ||

ਬੈਠੇ ਸਭ ਲੋਗਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥

baiThe sabh logan sun paayo ||

When Rani, showing grief, shouted very loudly, all the people heard,

ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਪੂਛਨਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ॥

taa ko sabh poochhan mil aae ||

ਕੋਨੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਰਾਵ ਜੂ ਘਾਏ ॥੧੬॥

konai dhusaT raav joo ghaae ||16||

And asked, which enemy had killed the RaJa.(16)

ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਅਤਿ ਦੁਖਿਤ ਬਖਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥

tab raanee at dhukhit bakhaanayo ||

ਤਾ ਕੋ ਭੇਦ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਛਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥

taa ko bhedh kachhoo na pachhaanayo ||

The Rani expressed as if in a great distress, ‘Noone knows the mystery.

ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਰਾਵ ਜੂ ਮਾਸੁ ਮੰਗਾਯੋ ॥

pratham raav joo maas ma(n)gaayo ||

ਆਪੁ ਭਖ੍ਰਯੋ ਕਛੁ ਭ੍ਰਿਤਨ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥੧੭॥

aap bhakhrayo kachh bhiratan paThaayo ||17||

‘Primarily the Raja had ordered some meat, from which he ate some and, some, he distributed among the servants.’(17)

ਪੁਨਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਜੂ ਅਮਲ ਮੰਗਾਯੋ ॥

pun raajaa joo amal ma(n)gaayo ||

ਆਪੁ ਪਿਯੋ ਕਛੁ ਹਮੈ ਪਿਯਾਯੋ ॥

aap piyo kachh hamai piyaayo ||

‘Then Raja sent for wine, he drank some and, some, he gave me.

ਪੀਏ ਕੈਫ ਕੈ ਅਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਭਏ ॥
