ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਰਾਧਣਾ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਉ ॥

a(n)tar gur aaraadhanaa jihavaa jap gur naau ||

Deep within yourself, worship the Guru in adoration, and with your tongue, chant the Guru's Name.

ਨੇਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੇਖਣਾ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਨਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਉ ॥

netree satigur pekhanaa sravanee sunanaa gur naau ||

Let your eyes behold the True Guru, and let your ears hear the Guru's Name.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਠਾਉ ॥

satigur setee ratiaa dharageh paieeaai Thaau ||

Attuned to the True Guru, you shall receive a place of honor in the Court of the Lord.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਏਹ ਵਥੁ ਦੇਇ ॥

kahu naanak kirapaa kare jis no eh vath dhei ||

Says Nanak, this treasure is bestowed on those who are blessed with His Mercy.

ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਉਤਮ ਕਾਢੀਅਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥੧॥

jag meh utam kaadde'eeh virale keiee kei ||1||

In the midst of the world, they are known as the most pious - they are rare indeed. ||1||

ਰਖੇ ਰਖਣਹਾਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਬਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥

rakhe rakhanahaar aap ubaarian ||

O Savior Lord, save us and take us across.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥

gur kee pairee pai kaaj savaarian ||

Falling at the feet of the Guru, our works are embellished with perfection.

ਹੋਆ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥

hoaa aap dhiaal manahu na visaarian ||

You have become kind, merciful and compassionate; we do not forget You from our minds.

ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥

saadh janaa kai sa(n)g bhavajal taarian ||

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, we are carried across the terrifying world-ocean.

ਸਾਕਤ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥

saakat ni(n)dhak dhusaT khin maeh bidhaarian ||

In an instant, You have destroyed the faithless cynics and slanderous enemies.

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

tis saahib kee Tek naanak manai maeh ||

That Lord and Master is my Anchor and Support; O Nanak, hold firm in your mind.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥

jis simarat sukh hoi sagale dhookh jaeh ||2||

Remembering Him in meditation, happiness comes, and all sorrows and pains simply vanish. ||2||

ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੀਐ ॥

akul nira(n)jan purakh agam apaareeaai ||

He is without relatives, immaculate, all-powerful, unapproachable and infinite.

ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੀਐ ॥

sacho sachaa sach sach nihaareeaai ||

Truly, the True Lord is seen to be the Truest of the True.

ਕੂੜੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਧਾਰੀਐ ॥

kooR na jaapai kichh teree dhaareeaai ||

Nothing established by You appears to be false.

ਸਭਸੈ ਦੇ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਜੇਤ ਉਪਾਰੀਐ ॥

sabhasai dhe dhaataar jet upaareeaai ||

The Great Giver gives sustenance to all those He has created.

ਇਕਤੁ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਇ ਜੋਤਿ ਸੰਜਾਰੀਐ ॥

eikat soot paroi jot sa(n)jaareeaai ||

He has strung all on only one thread; He has infused His Light in them.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਭਵਜਲ ਮੰਝਿ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਤਾਰੀਐ ॥

hukame bhavajal ma(n)jh hukame taareeaai ||

By His Will, some drown in the terrifying world-ocean, and by His Will, some are carried across.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਸੋਇ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਗੁ ਮਥਾਰੀਐ ॥

prabh jeeau tudh dhiaae soi jis bhaag mathaareeaai ||

O Dear Lord, he alone meditates on You, upon whose forehead such blessed destiny is inscribed.

ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਲਖੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਐ ॥੧॥

teree gat mit lakhee na jai hau tudh balihaareeaai ||1||

Your condition and state cannot be known; I am a sacrifice to You. ||1||

ਜਾ ਤੂੰ ਤੁਸਹਿ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਵਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

jaa too(n) tuseh miharavaan achi(n)t vaseh man maeh ||

When You are pleased, O Merciful Lord, you automatically come to dwell within my mind.

ਜਾ ਤੂੰ ਤੁਸਹਿ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥

jaa too(n) tuseh miharavaan nau nidh ghar meh paeh ||

When You are pleased, O Merciful Lord, I find the nine treasures within the home of my own self.

ਜਾ ਤੂੰ ਤੁਸਹਿ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥

jaa too(n) tuseh miharavaan taa gur kaa ma(n)tr kamaeh ||

When You are pleased, O Merciful Lord, I act according to the Guru's Instructions.

ਜਾ ਤੂੰ ਤੁਸਹਿ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥

jaa too(n) tuseh miharavaan taa naanak sach samaeh ||1||

When You are pleased, O Merciful Lord, then Nanak is absorbed in the True One. ||1||

ਕਿਤੀ ਬੈਹਨਿੑ ਬੈਹਣੇ ਮੁਚੁ ਵਜਾਇਨਿ ਵਜ ॥

kitee baihani(h) baihane much vajain vaj ||

Many sit on thrones, to the sounds of musical instruments.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਰਹੀਆ ਲਜ ॥੨॥

naanak sache naam vin kisai na raheeaa laj ||2||

O Nanak, without the True Name, no one's honor is safe. ||2||

ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿੑ ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬਾ ਸਣੁ ਖੜੇ ॥

tudh dhiaaini(h) bedh katebaa san khaRe ||

The followers of the Vedas, the Bible and the Koran, standing at Your Door, meditate on You.

ਗਣਤੀ ਗਣੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਤੇਰੈ ਦਰਿ ਪੜੇ ॥

ganatee ganee na jai terai dhar paRe ||

Uncounted are those who fall at Your Door.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿੑ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਸਣਾ ॥

brahame tudh dhiaaini(h) i(n)dhr i(n)dhraasanaa ||

Brahma meditates on You, as does Indra on his throne.

ਸੰਕਰ ਬਿਸਨ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਣਾ ॥

sa(n)kar bisan avataar har jas mukh bhanaa ||

Shiva and Vishnu, and their incarnations, chant the Lord's Praise with their mouths,

ਪੀਰ ਪਿਕਾਬਰ ਸੇਖ ਮਸਾਇਕ ਅਉਲੀਏ ॥

peer pikaabar sekh masaik aaule'ee ||

as do the Pirs, the spiritual teachers, the prophets and the Shaykhs, the silent sages and the seers.

ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਮਉਲੀਏ ॥

ot pot nira(n)kaar ghaT ghaT maule'ee ||

Through and through, the Formless Lord is woven into each and every heart.

ਕੂੜਹੁ ਕਰੇ ਵਿਣਾਸੁ ਧਰਮੇ ਤਗੀਐ ॥

kooRahu kare vinaas dharame tageeaai ||

One is destroyed through falsehood; through righteousness, one prospers.

ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗੀਐ ॥੨॥

jit jit laieh aap tit tit lageeaai ||2||

Whatever the Lord links him to, to that he is linked. ||2||

ਚੰਗਿਆੲੀਂ ਆਲਕੁ ਕਰੇ ਬੁਰਿਆੲੀਂ ਹੋਇ ਸੇਰੁ ॥

cha(n)giaae(n)ee aalak kare buriaae(n)ee hoi ser ||

He is reluctant to do good, but eager to practice evil.

ਨਾਨਕ ਅਜੁ ਕਲਿ ਆਵਸੀ ਗਾਫਲ ਫਾਹੀ ਪੇਰੁ ॥੧॥

naanak aj kal aavasee gaafal faahee per ||1||

O Nanak, today or tomorrow, the feet of the careless fool shall fall into the trap. ||1||

ਕਿਤੀਆ ਕੁਢੰਗ ਗੁਝਾ ਥੀਐ ਨ ਹਿਤੁ ॥

kiteeaa kudda(n)g gujhaa theeaai na hit ||

No matter how evil my ways are, still, Your Love for me is not concealed.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੈ ਸਹਿ ਢਕਿਆ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਚਾ ਮਿਤੁ ॥੨॥

naanak tai seh ddakiaa man meh sachaa mit ||2||

Nanak: You, O Lord, conceal my short-comings and dwell within my mind; You are my true friend. ||2||

ਹਉ ਮਾਗਉ ਤੁਝੈ ਦਇਆਲ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਗੋਲਿਆ ॥

hau maagau tujhai dhiaal kar dhaasaa goliaa ||

I beg of You, O Merciful Lord: please, make me the slave of Your slaves.

ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਰਾਜੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ॥

nau nidh paiee raaj jeevaa boliaa ||

I obtain the nine treasures and royalty; chanting Your Name, I live.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਦਾਸਾ ਘਰਿ ਘਣਾ ॥

a(n)mirat naam nidhaan dhaasaa ghar ghanaa ||

The great ambrosial treasure, the Nectar of the Naam, is in the home of the Lord's slaves.

ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਣਾ ॥

tin kai sa(n)g nihaal sravanee jas sunaa ||

In their company, I am in ecstasy, listening to Your Praises with my ears.

ਕਮਾਵਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

kamaavaa tin kee kaar sareer pavit hoi ||

Serving them, my body is purified.

ਪਖਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਸਿ ਬਿਗਸਾ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਇ ॥

pakhaa paanee pees bigasaa pair dhoi ||

I wave the fans over them, and carry water for them; I grind the corn for them, and washing their feet, I am over-joyed.

ਆਪਹੁ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੀਐ ॥

aapahu kachhoo na hoi prabh nadhar nihaaleeaai ||

By myself, I can do nothing; O God, bless me with Your Glance of Grace.

ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਦਿਚੈ ਥਾਉ ਸੰਤ ਧਰਮ ਸਾਲੀਐ ॥੩॥

moh niragun dhichai thaau sa(n)t dharam saaleeaai ||3||

I am worthless - please, bless me with a seat in the place of worship of the Saints. ||3||

ਸਾਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਾ ਸਦ ਧੂਰਿ ॥

saajan tere charan kee hoi rahaa sadh dhoor ||

O Friend, I pray that I may remain forever the dust of Your Feet.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀਆ ਪੇਖਉ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੧॥

naanak saran tuhaareeaa pekhau sadhaa hajoor ||1||

Nanak has entered Your Sanctuary, and beholds You ever-present. ||1||

ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਅਸੰਖ ਹੋਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗ ॥

patit puneet asa(n)kh hoh har charanee man laag ||

Countless sinners become pure, by fixing their minds on the Feet of the Lord.

ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗ ॥੨॥

aThasaTh teerath naam prabh jis naanak masatak bhaag ||2||

The Name of God is the sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage, O Nanak, for one who has such destiny written upon his forehead. ||2||

ਨਿਤ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਨਾਉ ਪਰਵਦਿਗਾਰ ਦਾ ॥

nit japeeaai saas giraas naau paravadhigaar dhaa ||

With every breath and morsel of food, chant the Name of the Lord, the Cherisher.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰੇ ਰਹੰਮ ਤਿਸੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਾਰਦਾ ॥

jis no kare raha(n)m tis na visaaradhaa ||

The Lord does not forget one upon whom He has bestowed His Grace.

ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮਾਰਦਾ ॥

aap upaavanahaar aape hee maaradhaa ||

He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself destroys.

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ॥

sabh kichh jaanai jaan bujh veechaaradhaa ||

The Knower knows everything; He understands and contemplates.

ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਧਾਰਦਾ ॥

anik roop khin maeh kudharat dhaaradhaa ||

By His creative power, He assumes numerous forms in an instant.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਇ ਸਚਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਉਧਾਰਦਾ ॥

jis no lai sach tiseh udhaaradhaa ||

One whom the Lord attaches to the Truth is redeemed.

ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਲਿ ਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹਾਰਦਾ ॥

jis dhai hovai val su kadhe na haaradhaa ||

One who has God on his side is never conquered.

ਸਦਾ ਅਭਗੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਦਾ ॥੪॥

sadhaa abhag dheebaan hai hau tis namasakaaradhaa ||4||

His Court is eternal and imperishable; I humbly bow to Him. ||4||

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥

kaam karodh lobh chhoddeeaai dheejai agan jalai ||

Renounce sexual desire, anger and greed, and burn them in the fire.

ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥

jeevadhiaa nit jaapeeaai naanak saachaa naau ||1||

As long as you are alive, O Nanak, meditate continually on the True Name. ||1||

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਆਹਿ ॥

simarat simarat prabh aapanaa sabh fal paae aaeh ||

Meditating, meditating in remembrance on my God, I have obtained all the fruits.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥

naanak naam araadhiaa gur poorai dheeaa milai ||2||

O Nanak, I worship the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord. ||2||

ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ॥

so mukataa sa(n)saar j gur upadhesiaa ||

One who has been instructed by the Guru is liberated in this world.

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ ॥

tis kee giee balai miTe a(n)dhesiaa ||

He avoids disaster, and his anxiety is dispelled.

ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

tis kaa dharasan dhekh jagat nihaal hoi ||

Beholding the blessed vision of his Darshan, the world is over-joyed.

ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਪਾਪਾ ਮੈਲੁ ਧੋਇ ॥

jan kai sa(n)g nihaal paapaa mail dhoi ||

In the company of the Lord's humble servants, the world is over-joyed, and the filth of sin is washed away.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ਓਥੈ ਜਾਪੀਐ ॥

a(n)mrit saachaa naau othai jaapeeaai ||

There, they meditate on the Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name.

ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਭੁਖਾ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੀਐ ॥

man kau hoi sa(n)tokh bhukhaa dhraapeeaai ||

The mind becomes content, and its hunger is satisfied.

ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੀਐ ॥

jis ghaT vasiaa naau tis ba(n)dhan kaaTeeaai ||

One whose heart is filled with the Name, has his bonds cut away.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟੀਐ ॥੫॥

gur parasaadh kinai viralai har dhan khaaTeeaai ||5||

By Guru's Grace, some rare person earns the wealth of the Lord's Name. ||5||

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਚਿਤਵਨੀ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਉ ਉਠਿ ਨੀਤ ॥

man meh chitavau chitavanee udham karau uTh neet ||

Within my mind, I think thoughts of always rising early, and making the effort.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਹਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥

har keeratan kaa aaharo har dheh naanak ke meet ||1||

O Lord, my Friend, please bless Nanak with the habit of singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||1||

ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਮੂਲਿ ॥

dhirasaT dhaar prabh raakhiaa man tan rataa mool ||

Casting His Glance of Grace, God has saved me; my mind and body are imbued with the Primal Being.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੀਆ ਮਰਉ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ਸੂਲਿ ॥੨॥

naanak jo prabh bhaaneeaa marau vichaaree sool ||2||

O Nanak, those who are pleasing to God, have their cries of suffering taken away. ||2||

Pauree:

ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰਿ ॥

jeea kee birathaa hoi su gur peh aradhaas kar ||

When your soul is feeling sad, offer your prayers to the Guru.

ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿ ॥

chhodd siaanap sagal man tan arap dhar ||

Renounce all your cleverness, and dedicate your mind and body to Him.

ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਰਿ ॥

poojahu gur ke pair dhuramat jai jar ||

Worship the Feet of the Guru, and your evil-mindedness shall be burnt away.

ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਰਿ ॥

saadh janaa kai sa(n)g bhavajal bikham tar ||

Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the terrifying and difficult world-ocean.

ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਗੈ ਨ ਮਰਹੁ ਡਰਿ ॥

sevahu satigur dhev agai na marahu ddar ||

Serve the True Guru, and in the world hereafter, you shall not die of fear.

ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿ ॥

khin meh kare nihaal uoone subhar bhar ||

In an instant, he shall make you happy, and the empty vessel shall be filled to overflowing.

ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ॥

man kau hoi sa(n)tokh dhiaaieeaai sadhaa har ||

The mind becomes content, meditating forever on the Lord.

ਸੋ ਲਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਧੁਰਿ ॥੬॥

so lagaa satigur sev jaa kau karam dhur ||6||

He alone dedicates himself to the Guru's service, unto whom the Lord has granted His Grace. ||6||

ਲਗੜੀ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰੈ ਜੋੜੀਆ ॥

lagaRee suthaan joRanahaarai joReeaa ||

I am attached to the right place; the Uniter has united me.

ਨਾਨਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਲਖ ਸੈ ਆਨ ਡੁਬਣ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੧॥

naanak laharee lakh sai aan dduban dhei na maa piree ||1||

O Nanak, there are hundreds and thousands of waves, but my Husband Lord does not let me drown. ||1||

ਬਨਿ ਭੀਹਾਵਲੈ ਹਿਕੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥

ban bheehaavalai hik saathee ladham dhukh harataa har naamaa ||

In the dreadful wilderness, I have found the one and only companion; the Name of the Lord is the Destroyer of distress.

ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾਂ ॥੨॥

bal bal jaiee sa(n)t piaare naanak pooran kaamaa(n) ||2||

I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Beloved Saints, O Nanak; through them, my affairs have been brought to fulfillment. ||2||

ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥

paieean sabh nidhaan terai ra(n)g ratiaa ||

All treasures are obtained, when we are attuned to Your Love.

ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਜਪਤਿਆ ॥

n hovee pachhotaau tudh no japatiaa ||

One does not have to suffer regret and repentance, when he meditates on You.

ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਜਨ ॥

pahuch na sakai koi teree Tek jan ||

No one can equal Your humble servant, who has Your Support.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਮਨ ॥

gur poore vaahu vaahu sukh lahaa chitaar man ||

Waaho! Waaho! How wonderful is the Perfect Guru! Cherishing Him in my mind, I obtain peace.

ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

gur peh sifat bha(n)ddaar karamee paieeaai ||

The treasure of the Lord's Praise comes from the Guru; by His Mercy, it is obtained.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਈਐ ॥

satigur nadhar nihaal bahuR na dhaieeaai ||

When the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace, one does not wander any more.

ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਆਪਣੇ ॥

rakhai aap dhiaal kar dhaasaa aapane ||

The Merciful Lord preserves him - He makes him His own slave.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣੇ ॥੭॥

har har har har naam jeevaa sun sune ||7||

Listening, hearing the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, I live. ||7||

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਟੋਲਾ ਤੈ ਸਹਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਢਕਣ ਕੂ ਪਤਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥

prem paTolaa tai seh dhitaa ddakan koo pat meree ||

O Husband Lord, You have given me the silk gown of Your Love to cover and protect my honor.

ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ਸਾਈ ਮੈਡਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਤੇਰੀ ॥੧॥

dhaanaa beenaa saiee maiddaa naanak saar na jaanaa teree ||1||

You are all-wise and all-knowing, O my Master; Nanak: I have not appreciated Your value, Lord. ||1||

ਤੈਡੈ ਸਿਮਰਣਿ ਹਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਲਧਮੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਨ ਡਿਠਮੁ ਕੋਈ ॥

taiddai simaran habh kichh ladham bikham na ddiTham koiee ||

By Your meditative remembrance, I have found everything; nothing seems difficult to me.

ਜਿਸੁ ਪਤਿ ਰਖੈ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੨॥

jis pat rakhai sachaa saahib naanak meT na sakai koiee ||2||

One whose honor the True Lord Master has preserved - O Nanak, no one can dishonor him. ||2||

ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਘਣਾ ਦਯਿ ਧਿਆਇਐ ॥

hovai sukh ghanaa dhay dhiaaiaai ||

Meditating on the Lord, there comes a great peace.

ਵੰਞੈ ਰੋਗਾ ਘਾਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਐ ॥

va(n)n(j)ai rogaa ghaan har gun gaiaai ||

Multitudes of illnesses vanish, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਠਾਢਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਇਐ ॥

a(n)dhar varatai Thaadd prabh chit aaiaai ||

Utter peace pervades within, when God comes to mind.

ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਆਸ ਨਾਇ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਐ ॥

pooran hovai aas nai ma(n)n vasaiaai ||

One's hopes are fulfilled, when one's mind is filled with the Name.

ਕੋਇ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਐ ॥

koi na lagai bighan aap gavaiaai ||

No obstacles stand in the way, when one eliminates his self-conceit.

ਗਿਆਨ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਐ ॥

giaan padhaarath mat gur te paiaai ||

The intellect attains the blessing of spiritual wisdom from the Guru.

ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਭੇ ਥੋਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਇਐ ॥

tin paae sabhe thok jis aap dhivaiaai ||

He receives everything, unto whom the Lord Himself gives.

ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਛਾਇਐ ॥੮॥

too(n) sabhanaa kaa khasam sabh teree chhaiaai ||8||

You are the Lord and Master of all; all are under Your Protection. ||8||

ਨਦੀ ਤਰੰਦੜੀ ਮੈਡਾ ਖੋਜੁ ਨ ਖੁੰਭੈ ਮੰਝਿ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ॥

nadhee tara(n)dhaRee maiddaa khoj na khu(n)bhai ma(n)jh muhabat teree ||

Crossing the stream, my foot does not get stuck - I am filled with love for You.

ਤਉ ਸਹ ਚਰਣੀ ਮੈਡਾ ਹੀਅੜਾ ਸੀਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਬੇੜੀ ॥੧॥

tau seh charanee maiddaa heeaRaa seetam har naanak tulahaa beRee ||1||

O Lord, my heart is attached to Your Feet; the Lord is Nanak's raft and boat. ||1||

ਜਿਨੑਾ ਦਿਸੰਦੜਿਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਵੰਞੈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਾਡੜੇ ਸੇਈ ॥

jin(h)aa dhisa(n)dhaRiaa dhuramat va(n)n(j)ai mitr asaaddaRe seiee ||

The sight of them banishes my evil-mindedness; they are my only true friends.

ਹਉ ਢੂਢੇਦੀ ਜਗੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ॥੨॥

hau ddooddedhee jag sabaiaa jan naanak virale keiee ||2||

I have searched the whole world; O servant Nanak, how rare are such persons! ||2||

ਆਵੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਤੇਰਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਡਿਠਿਆ ॥

aavai saahib chit teriaa bhagataa ddiThiaa ||

You come to mind, O Lord and Master, when I behold Your devotees.

ਮਨ ਕੀ ਕਟੀਐ ਮੈਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਵੁਠਿਆ ॥

man kee kaTeeaai mail saadhasa(n)g vuThiaa ||

The filth of my mind is removed, when I dwell in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਉ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਪਿ ॥

janam maran bhau kaTeeaai jan kaa sabadh jap ||

The fear of birth and death is dispelled, meditating on the Word of His humble servant.

ਬੰਧਨ ਖੋਲਨਿੑ ਸੰਤ ਦੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਛਪਿ ॥

ba(n)dhan kholani(h) sa(n)t dhoot sabh jaeh chhap ||

The Saints untie the bonds, and all the demons are dispelled.

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਇਨਿੑ ਰੰਗੁ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥

tis siau laini(h) ra(n)g jis dhee sabh dhaareeaa ||

They inspire us to love Him, the One who established the entire universe.

ਊਚੀ ਹੂੰ ਊਚਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੀਆ ॥

uoochee hoo(n) uoochaa thaan agam apaareeaa ||

The seat of the inaccessible and infinite Lord is the highest of the high.

ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥

rain dhinas kar joR saas saas dhiaaieeaai ||

Night and day, with your palms pressed together, with each and every breath, meditate on Him.

ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਤਾਂ ਭਗਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੯॥

jaa aape hoi dhiaal taa(n) bhagat sa(n)g paieeaai ||9||

When the Lord Himself becomes merciful, then we attain the Society of His devotees. ||9||

ਬਾਰਿ ਵਿਡਾਨੜੈ ਹੁੰਮਸ ਧੁੰਮਸ ਕੂਕਾ ਪਈਆ ਰਾਹੀ ॥

baar viddaanaRai hu(n)mas dhu(n)mas kookaa pieeaa raahee ||

In this wondrous forest of the world, there is chaos and confusion; shrieks emanate from the highways.

ਤਉ ਸਹ ਸੇਤੀ ਲਗੜੀ ਡੋਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦ ਸੇਤੀ ਬਨੁ ਗਾਹੀ ॥੧॥

tau seh setee lagaRee ddoree naanak anadh setee ban gaahee ||1||

I am in love with You, O my Husband Lord; O Nanak, I cross the jungle joyfully. ||1||

ਸਚੀ ਬੈਸਕ ਤਿਨੑਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਉ ॥

sachee baisak tin(h)aa sa(n)g jin sa(n)g japeeaai naau ||

The true society is the company of those who meditate on the Name of the Lord.

ਤਿਨੑ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕੀਚਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੨॥

tin(h) sa(n)g sa(n)g na keechiee naanak jinaa aapanaa suaau ||2||

Do not associate with those, O Nanak, who look out only for their own interests. ||2||

ਸਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ॥

saa velaa paravaan jit satigur bheTiaa ||

Approved is that time, when one meets the True Guru.

ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਤੇਟਿਆ ॥

hoaa saadhoo sa(n)g fir dhookh na teTiaa ||

Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he does not suffer pain again.

ਪਾਇਆ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਲੇਟਿਆ ॥

paiaa nihachal thaan fir garabh na leTiaa ||

When he attains the eternal place, he does not have to enter the womb again.

ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ਇਕੁ ਸਗਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇਟਿਆ ॥

nadharee aaiaa ik sagal brahameTiaa ||

He comes to see the One God everywhere.

ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਲਾਇ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਮੇਟਿਆ ॥

tat giaan lai dhiaan dhirasaT sameTiaa ||

He focuses his meditation on the essence of spiritual wisdom, and withdraws his attention from other sights.

ਸਭੋ ਜਪੀਐ ਜਾਪੁ ਜਿ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਬੋਲੇਟਿਆ ॥

sabho japeeaai jaap j mukhahu boleTiaa ||

All chants are chanted by one who chants them with his mouth.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਬੁਝਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੁਖੇਟਿਆ ॥

hukame bujh nihaal sukh sukheTiaa ||

Realizing the Hukam of the Lord's Command, he becomes happy, and he is filled with peace and tranquility.

ਪਰਖਿ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਏ ਸੇ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਖੋਟਿਆ ॥੧੦॥

parakh khajaanai paae se bahuR na khoTiaa ||10||

Those who are assayed, and placed in the Lord's treasury, are not declared counterfeit again. ||10||

ਵਿਛੋਹੇ ਜੰਬੂਰ ਖਵੇ ਨ ਵੰਞਨਿ ਗਾਖੜੇ ॥

vichhohe ja(n)boor khave na va(n)n(j)n gaakhaRe ||

The pincers of separation are so painful to endure.

ਜੇ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ਮਿਲੰਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖ ਸੰਬੂਹ ਸਚੁ ॥੧॥

je so dhanee mila(n)n naanak sukh sa(n)booh sach ||1||

If only the Master would come to meet me! O Nanak, I would then obtain all the true comforts. ||1||

ਜਿਮੀ ਵਸੰਦੀ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਈਧਣੁ ਰਖੈ ਭਾਹਿ ॥

jimee vasa(n)dhee paaneeaai ieedhan rakhai bhaeh ||

The earth is in the water, and the fire is contained in the wood.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਆਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਆਢਲਿ ਹਭੁ ਕੋ ॥੨॥

naanak so sahu aaeh jaa kai aaddal habh ko ||2||

O Nanak, yearn for that Lord, who is the Support of all. ||2||

ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਤੁਧੈ ਹੀ ਗੋਚਰੇ ॥

tere keete ka(n)m tudhai hee gochare ||

The works which You have done, O Lord, could only have been performed by You.

ਸੋਈ ਵਰਤੈ ਜਗਿ ਜਿ ਕੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੁਰੇ ॥

soiee varatai jag j keeaa tudh dhure ||

That alone happens in the world, which You, O Master, have done.

ਬਿਸਮੁ ਭਏ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਤੇਰੀਆ ॥

bisam bhe bisamaadh dhekh kudharat tereeaa ||

I am wonderstruck beholding the wonder of Your Almighty Creative Power.

ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਸ ਕਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਮੇਰੀਆ ॥

saran pare teree dhaas kar gat hoi mereeaa ||

I seek Your Sanctuary - I am Your slave; if it is Your Will, I shall be emancipated.

ਤੇਰੈ ਹਥਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਹਿ ॥

terai hath nidhaan bhaavai tis dheh ||

The treasure is in Your Hands; according to Your Will, You bestow it.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੇਇ ਲੇਹਿ ॥

jis no hoi dhiaal har naam sei leh ||

One, upon whom You have bestowed Your Mercy, is blessed with the Lord's Name.

ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

agam agochar bea(n)t a(n)t na paieeaai ||

You are unapproachable, unfathomable and infinite; Your limits cannot be found.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਹਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧੧॥

jis no hoh kirapaalu su naam dhiaaieeaai ||11||

One, unto whom You have been compassionate, meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||11||

ਕੜਛੀਆ ਫਿਰੰਨਿੑ ਸੁਆਉ ਨ ਜਾਣਨਿੑ ਸੁਞੀਆ ॥

kaRachheeaa fira(n)ni(h) suaau na jaanani(h) sun(j)eeaa ||

The ladles cruise through the food, but they do not know the taste of it.

ਸੇਈ ਮੁਖ ਦਿਸੰਨਿੑ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸਿ ॥੧॥

seiee mukh dhisa(n)ni(h) naanak rate prem ras ||1||

I long to see the faces of those, O Nanak, who are imbued with the essence of the Lord's Love. ||1||

ਖੋਜੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਖੋਜੁ ਛਡੀਆ ਉਜਾੜਿ ॥

khojee ladham khoj chhaddeeaa ujaaR ||

Through the Tracker, I discovered the tracks of those who ruined my crops.

ਤੈ ਸਹਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਵਾੜਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਖੇਤੁ ਨ ਛਿਜਈ ॥੨॥

tai seh dhitee vaaR naanak khet na chhijiee ||2||

You, O Lord, have put up the fence; O Nanak, my fields shall not be plundered again. ||2||

ਆਰਾਧਿਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਸਿ ॥

aaraadhih sachaa soi sabh kichh jis paas ||

Worship in adoration that True Lord; everything is under His Power.

ਦੁਹਾ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਖਸਮੁ ਆਪਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥

dhuhaa siriaa khasam aap khin meh kare raas ||

He Himself is the Master of both ends; in an instant, He adjusts our affairs.

ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਵ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹੁ ॥

tiaagahu sagal upaav tis kee oT gahu ||

Renounce all your efforts, and hold fast to His Support.

ਪਉ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜਿ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਲਹੁ ॥

pau saranaiee bhaj sukhee hoo(n) sukh lahu ||

Run to His Sanctuary, and you shall obtain the comfort of all comforts.

ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

karam dharam tat giaan sa(n)taa sa(n)g hoi ||

The karma of good deeds, the righteousness of Dharma and the essence of spiritual wisdom are obtained in the Society of the Saints.

ਜਪੀਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

japeeaai a(n)mirat naam bighan na lagai koi ||

Chanting the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, no obstacle shall block your way.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਿਆ ॥

jis no aap dhiaal tis man vuThiaa ||

The Lord abides in the mind of one who is blessed by His Kindness.

ਪਾਈਅਨਿੑ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਤੁਠਿਆ ॥੧੨॥

paieeani(h) sabh nidhaan saahib tuThiaa ||12||

All treasures are obtained, when the Lord and Master is pleased. ||12||

ਲਧਮੁ ਲਭਣਹਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੰਦੋ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥

ladham labhanahaar karam kara(n)dho maa piree ||

I have found the object of my search - my Beloved took pity on me.

ਇਕੋ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਆ ਨ ਪਸੀਐ ॥੧॥

eiko sirajanahaar naanak biaa na paseeaai ||1||

There is One Creator; O Nanak, I do not see any other. ||1||

ਪਾਪੜਿਆ ਪਛਾੜਿ ਬਾਣੁ ਸਚਾਵਾ ਸੰਨਿੑ ਕੈ ॥

paapaRiaa pachhaaR baan sachaavaa sa(n)ni(h) kai ||

Take aim with the arrow of Truth, and shoot down sin.

ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੜਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਥੀਵਈ ॥੨॥

gur ma(n)traRaa chitaar naanak dhukh na theeviee ||2||

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪਾਈਅਨੁ ਠਾਢਿ ਆਪਿ ॥

vaahu vaahu sirajanahaar paieean Thaadd aap ||

Waaho! Waaho! The Creator Lord Himself has brought about peace and tranquility.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਪਿ ॥

jeea ja(n)t miharavaan tis no sadhaa jaap ||

He is Kind to all beings and creatures; meditate forever on Him.

ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਮਰਥਿ ਚੁਕੇ ਬਿਲ ਬਿਲਾਪ ॥

dhiaa dhaaree samarath chuke bil bilaap ||

The all-powerful Lord has shown Mercy, and my cries of suffering are ended.

ਨਠੇ ਤਾਪ ਦੁਖ ਰੋਗ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਿ ॥

naThe taap dhukh rog poore gur prataap ||

My fevers, pains and diseases are gone, by the Grace of the Perfect Guru.

ਕੀਤੀਅਨੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਖ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜਿ ਥਾਪਿ ॥

keeteean aapanee rakh gareeb nivaaj thaap ||

The Lord has established me, and protected me; He is the Cherisher of the poor.

ਆਪੇ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਛਡਾਇ ਬੰਧਨ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਪਿ ॥

aape lian chhaddai ba(n)dhan sagal kaap ||

He Himself has delivered me, breaking all my bonds.

ਤਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਆਸ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਮਨ ਸੰਤੋਖਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪਿ ॥

tisan bujhee aas pu(n)nee man sa(n)tokh dhraap ||

My thirst is quenched, my hopes are fulfilled, and my mind is contented and satisfied.

ਵਡੀ ਹੂੰ ਵਡਾ ਅਪਾਰ ਖਸਮੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਲੇਪੁ ਨ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਪਾਪਿ ॥੧੩॥

vaddee hoo(n) vaddaa apaar khasam jis lep na pu(n)n paap ||13||

The greatest of the great, the Infinite Lord and Master - He is not affected by virtue and vice. ||13||

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਈ ਜਪਾਤ ॥

jaa kau bhe kirapaal prabh har har seiee japaat ||

They alone meditate on the Lord God, Har, Har, unto whom the Lord is Merciful.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਤਿਨ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਾਤ ॥੧॥

naanak preet lagee tin raam siau bheTat saadh sa(n)gaat ||1||

O Nanak, they enshrine love for the Lord, meeting the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||

ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮਹੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਇ ॥

raam ramahu baddabhaageeho jal thal maheeal soi ||

Contemplate the Lord, O very fortunate ones; He is pervading in the water, the land and the sky.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਅਰਾਧਿਐ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥

naanak naam araadhiaai bighan na laagai koi ||2||

O Nanak, worshipping the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mortal encounters no misfortune. ||2||

ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਵੈ ਥਾਇ ॥

bhagataa kaa boliaa paravaan hai dharageh pavai thai ||

The speech of the devotees is approved; it is accepted in the Court of the Lord.

ਭਗਤਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਰਤੇ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਇ ॥

bhagataa teree Tek rate sach nai ||

Your devotees take to Your Support; they are imbued with the True Name.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

jis no hoi kirapaal tis kaa dhookh jai ||

One unto whom You are Merciful, has his sufferings depart.

ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਇਆਲ ਓਨੑਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਪਾਇ ॥

bhagat tere dhiaal on(h)aa mihar pai ||

O Merciful Lord, You bless Your devotees with Your Grace.

ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਵਡ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਪੋਹੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇ ॥

dhookh dharadh vadd rog na pohe tis mai ||

Suffering, pain, terrible disease and Maya do not afflict them.

ਭਗਤਾ ਏਹੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗਾਇ ॥

bhagataa eh adhaar gun govi(n)dh gai ||

This is the Support of the devotees, that they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਇਕੋ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥

sadhaa sadhaa dhin rain iko ik dhiaai ||

Forever and ever, day and night, they meditate on the One and Only Lord.

ਪੀਵਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਹੇ ਅਘਾਇ ॥੧੪॥

peevat a(n)mirat naam jan naame rahe aghai ||14||

Drinking in the Ambrosial Amrit of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, His humble servants remain satisfied with the Naam. ||14||

ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਘਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਾਗਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਉ ॥

koT bighan tis laagate jis no visarai naau ||

Millions of obstacles stand in the way of one who forgets the Name.

ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਬਿਲਪਤੇ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਾਉ ॥੧॥

naanak anadhin bilapate jiau su(n)n(j)ai ghar kaau ||1||

ਪਿਰੀ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਜਾ ਥੀਐ ਸਾਈ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਰੁਤਿ ॥

piree milaavaa jaa theeaai saiee suhaavee rut ||

Beauteous is that season, when I am united with my Beloved.

ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਨਹ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਵੀਐ ਨਿਤ ॥੨॥

ghaRee muhat neh veesarai naanak raveeaai nit ||2||

I do not forget Him for a moment or an instant; O Nanak, I contemplate Him constantly. ||2||

ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਵਰੀਆਮ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਹੋੜੀਐ ॥ ਫਉਜ ਸਤਾਣੀ ਹਾਠ ਪੰਚਾ ਜੋੜੀਐ ॥

soorabeer vareeaam kinai na hoReeaai || fauj sataanee haaTh pa(n)chaa joReeaai ||

Even brave and mighty men cannot withstand the powerful and overwhelming army which the five passions have gathered.

ਜਿਣਿ ਜਿਣਿ ਲੈਨਿੑ ਰਲਾਇ ਏਹੋ ਏਨਾ ਲੋੜੀਐ ॥

jin jin laini(h) ralai eho enaa loReeaai ||

They seek to conquer and overpower them, and so increase their following.

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਇਨ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਮੋੜੀਐ ॥

trai gun in kai vas kinai na moReeaai ||

The world of the three dispositions is under their influence; no one can stand against them.

ਭਰਮੁ ਕੋਟੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਖਾਈ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਤੋੜੀਐ ॥

bharam koT maiaa khaiee kahu kit bidh toReeaai ||

So tell me - how can the fort of doubt and the moat of Maya be overcome?

ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਬਿਖਮ ਦਲੁ ਫੋੜੀਐ ॥

gur pooraa aaraadh bikham dhal foReeaai ||

Worshipping the Perfect Guru, this awesome force is subdued.

ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਰਹਾ ਕਰ ਜੋੜੀਐ ॥੧੫॥

hau tis agai dhin raat rahaa kar joReeaai ||15||

I stand before Him, day and night, with my palms pressed together. ||15||

ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭੇ ਉਤਰਨਿ ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥

kilavikh sabhe utaran neet neet gun gaau ||

All sins are washed away, by continually singing the Lord's Glories.

ਕੋਟਿ ਕਲੇਸਾ ਊਪਜਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥

koT kalesaa uoopajeh naanak bisarai naau ||1||

Millions of afflictions are produced, O Nanak, when the Name is forgotten. ||1||

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਐ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥

naanak satigur bheTiaai pooree hovai jugat ||

O Nanak, meeting the True Guru, one comes to know the Perfect Way.

ਹਸੰਦਿਆ ਖੇਲੰਦਿਆ ਪੈਨੰਦਿਆ ਖਾਵੰਦਿਆ ਵਿਚੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ॥੨॥

hasa(n)dhiaa khela(n)dhiaa paina(n)dhiaa khaava(n)dhiaa viche hovai mukat ||2||

While laughing, playing, dressing and eating, he is liberated. ||2||

ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਰਮ ਗੜੁ ਤੋੜਿਆ ॥

so satigur dhan dha(n)n jin bharam gaR toRiaa ||

Blessed, blessed is the True Guru, who has demolished the fortress of doubt.

ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਜੋੜਿਆ ॥

so satigur vaahu vaahu jin har siau joRiaa ||

Waaho! Waaho! - Hail! Hail! to the True Guru, who has united me with the Lord.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਅਖੁਟੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਦਾਰੂਓ ॥

naam nidhaan akhuT gur dhei dhaarooo ||

The Guru has given me the medicine of the inexhaustible treasure of the Naam.

ਮਹਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ਤਿਨੈ ਬਿਦਾਰੂਓ ॥

mahaa rog bikaraal tinai bidhaarooo ||

He has banished the great and terrible disease.

ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਖਜਾਨਿਆ ॥

paiaa naam nidhaan bahut khajaaniaa ||

I have obtained the great treasure of the wealth of the Naam.

ਜਿਤਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥

jitaa janam apaar aap pachhaaniaa ||

I have obtained eternal life, recognizing my own self.

ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਗੁਰ ਸਮਰਥ ਦੇਵ ॥

mahimaa kahee na jai gur samarath dhev ||

The Glory of the all-powerful Divine Guru cannot be described.

ਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵ ॥੧੬॥

gur paarabraham paramesur apara(n)par alakh abhev ||16||

The Guru is the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, infinite, unseen and unknowable. ||16||

ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰੇਦਿਆ ਜੀਉ ਤੂੰ ਕਮਾਵਦਿਆ ਸੁਖ ਭੁੰਚੁ ॥

audham karedhiaa jeeau too(n) kamaavadhiaa sukh bhu(n)ch ||

Make the effort, and you shall live; practicing it, you shall enjoy peace.

ਧਿਆਇਦਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤਰੀ ਚਿੰਤ ॥੧॥

dhiaaidhiaa too(n) prabhoo mil naanak utaree chi(n)t ||1||

Meditating, you shall meet God, O Nanak, and your anxiety shall vanish. ||1||

ਸੁਭ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰਮਣ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ॥

subh chi(n)tan gobi(n)dh raman niramal saadhoo sa(n)g ||

Bless me with sublime thoughts, O Lord of the Universe, and contemplation in the immaculate Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਰਉ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੨॥

naanak naam na visarau ik ghaRee kar kirapaa bhagava(n)t ||2||

O Nanak, may I never forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord, for even an instant; be merciful to me, Lord God. ||2||

ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਕਾਹੇ ਡਰਪੀਐ ॥

teraa keetaa hoi ta kaahe ddarapeeaai ||

Whatever happens is according to Your Will, so why should I be afraid?

ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੀਉ ਅਰਪੀਐ ॥

jis mil japeeaai naau tis jeeau arapeeaai ||

Meeting Him, I meditate on the Name - I offer my soul to Him.

ਆਇਐ ਚਿਤਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰ ॥

aaiaai chit nihaal saahib besumaar ||

When the Infinite Lord comes to mind, one is enraptured.

ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਪੋਹੇ ਕਵਣੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਲਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥

tis no pohe kavan jis val nira(n)kaar ||

Who can touch one who has the Formless Lord on his side?

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਹਰਾ ॥

sabh kichh tis kai vas na koiee baaharaa ||

Everything is under His control; no one is beyond Him.

ਸੋ ਭਗਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਰਾ ॥

so bhagataa man vuThaa sach samaaharaa ||

He, the True Lord, dwells in the minds of His devotees.

ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਤੂੰ ਰਖਣ ਵਾਲਿਆ ॥

tere dhaas dhiaain tudh too(n) rakhan vaaliaa ||

Your slaves meditate on You; You are the Savior, the Protector Lord.

ਸਿਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ॥੧੭॥

sir sabhanaa samarath nadhar nihaaliaa ||17||

You are the Almighty Overlord of all; You bless us with Your Glance of Grace. ||17||

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਦ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਸਟ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥

kaam karodh madh lobh moh dhusaT baasanaa nivaar ||

Take away my sexual desire, anger, pride, greed, emotional attachment and evil desires.

ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥

raakh leh prabh aapane naanak sadh balihaar ||1||

Protect me, O my God; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to You. ||1||

ਖਾਂਦਿਆ ਖਾਂਦਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਘਠਾ ਪੈਨੰਦਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਅੰਗੁ ॥

khaa(n)dhiaa khaa(n)dhiaa muh ghaThaa paina(n)dhiaa sabh a(n)g ||

By eating and eating, the mouth is worn out; by wearing clothes, the limbs grow weary.

ਨਾਨਕ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਸਚਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੨॥

naanak dhirag tinaa dhaa jeeviaa jin sach na lago ra(n)g ||2||

O Nanak, cursed are the lives of those who are not attuned to the Love of the True Lord. ||2||

ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਹੋਵਣਾ ॥

jiau jiau teraa hukam tivai tiau hovanaa ||

As is the Hukam of Your Command, so do things happen.

ਜਹ ਜਹ ਰਖਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਹ ਜਾਇ ਖੜੋਵਣਾ ॥

jeh jeh rakheh aap teh jai khaRovanaa ||

Wherever You keep me, there I go and stand.

ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੈ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਧੋਵਣਾ ॥

naam terai kai ra(n)g dhuramat dhovanaa ||

With the Love of Your Name, I wash away my evil-mindedness.

ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਖੋਵਣਾ ॥

jap jap tudh nira(n)kaar bharam bhau khovanaa ||

By continually meditating on You, O Formless Lord, my doubts and fears are dispelled.

ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਜੋਵਣਾ ॥

jo terai ra(n)g rate se jon na jovanaa ||

Those who are attuned to Your Love, shall not be trapped in reincarnation.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਨੈਣ ਅਲੋਵਣਾ ॥

a(n)tar baahar ik nain alovanaa ||

Inwardly and outwardly, they behold the One Lord with their eyes.

ਜਿਨੑੀ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਨੑ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਰੋਵਣਾ ॥

jin(h)ee pachhaataa hukam tin(h) kadhe na rovanaa ||

Those who recognize the Lord's Command never weep.

ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਰੋਵਣਾ ॥੧੮॥

naau naanak bakhasees man maeh parovanaa ||18||

O Nanak, they are blessed with the gift of the Name, woven into the fabric of their minds. ||18||

ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਮੁਆ ਰਲੰਦੜੋ ਖਾਕ ॥

jeevadhiaa na chetio muaa rala(n)dhaRo khaak ||

Those who do not remember the Lord while they are alive, shall mix with the dust when they die.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਦਾਰਿਆ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਨਪਾਕ ॥੧॥

naanak dhuneeaa sa(n)g gudhaariaa saakat mooR napaak ||1||

O Nanak, the foolish and filthy faithless cynic passes his life engrossed in the world. ||1||

ਜੀਵੰਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿਆ ਮਰੰਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ॥

jeeva(n)dhiaa har chetiaa mara(n)dhiaa har ra(n)g ||

One who remembers the Lord while he is alive, shall be imbued with the Lord's Love when he dies.

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੨॥

janam padhaarath taariaa naanak saadhoo sa(n)g ||2||

The precious gift of his life is redeemed, O Nanak, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||

ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੀ ਆਪਿ ਰਖਣ ਵਾਲਿਆ ॥

aadh jugaadhee aap rakhan vaaliaa ||

From the beginning, and through the ages, You have been our Protector and Preserver.

ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ ॥

sach naam karataar sach pasaariaa ||

True is Your Name, O Creator Lord, and True is Your Creation.

ਊਣਾ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਘਟੇ ਘਟਿ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥

uoonaa kahee na hoi ghaTe ghaT saariaa ||

You do not lack anything; You are filling each and every heart.

ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਸਮਰਥ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਘਾਲਿਆ ॥

miharavaan samarath aape hee ghaaliaa ||

You are merciful and all-powerful; You Yourself cause us to serve You.

ਜਿਨੑ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲਿਆ ॥

jin(h) man vuThaa aap se sadhaa sukhaaliaa ||

Those whose minds in which You dwell are forever at peace.

ਆਪੇ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਾਇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਲਿਆ ॥

aape rachan rachai aape hee paaliaa ||

Having created the creation, You Yourself cherish it.

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਪਾਰਿਆ ॥

sabh kichh aape aap bea(n)t apaariaa ||

You Yourself are everything, O infinite, endless Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਮੑਾਲਿਆ ॥੧੯॥

gur poore kee Tek naanak sa(n)m(h)aaliaa ||19||

Nanak seeks the Protection and Support of the Perfect Guru. ||19||

ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅਰੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਰਖਿਆ ॥

aadh madh ar a(n)t paramesar rakhiaa ||

In the beginning, in the middle and in the end, the Transcendent Lord has saved me.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਚਖਿਆ ॥

satigur dhitaa har naam a(n)mrit chakhiaa ||

The True Guru has blessed me with the Lord's Name, and I have tasted the Ambrosial Nectar.

ਸਾਧਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ॥

saadhaa sa(n)g apaar anadhin har gun ravai ||

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day.

ਪਾਏ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਭਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਨਹ ਭਵੈ ॥

paae manorath sabh jonee neh bhavai ||

I have obtained all my objectives, and I shall not wander in reincarnation again.

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਥਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ॥

sabh kichh karate hath kaaran jo karai ||

Everything is in the Hands of the Creator; He does what is done.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਸੰਤਾ ਧੂਰਿ ਤਰੈ ॥੧॥

naanak ma(n)gai dhaan sa(n)taa dhoor tarai ||1||

Nanak begs for the gift of the dust of the feet of the Holy, which shall deliver him. ||1||

ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥

tis no ma(n)n vasai jin upaiaa ||

Enshrine Him in your mind, the One who created you.

ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਖਸਮੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

jin jan dhiaaiaa khasam tin sukh paiaa ||

Whoever meditates on the Lord and Master obtains peace.

ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਇਆ ॥

safal janam paravaan gurmukh aaiaa ||

Fruitful is the birth, and approved is the coming of the Gurmukh.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੁਝਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਖਸਮਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ॥

hukamai bujh nihaal khasam furamaiaa ||

One who realizes the Hukam of the Lord's Command shall be blessed - so has the Lord and Master ordained.

ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਆ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸੁ ਨਹ ਭਰਮਾਇਆ ॥

jis hoaa aap kirapaalu su neh bharamaiaa ||

One who is blessed with the Lord's Mercy does not wander.

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦਿਤਾ ਖਸਮਿ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

jo jo dhitaa khasam soiee sukh paiaa ||

Whatever the Lord and Master gives him, with that he is content.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਿਤ ॥

naanak jiseh dhiaal bujhaae hukam mit ||

O Nanak, one who is blessed with the kindness of the Lord, our Friend, realizes the Hukam of His Command.

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਮਹਿ ਨਿਤ ॥੨॥

jiseh bhulaae aap mar mar jameh nit ||2||

But those whom the Lord Himself causes to wander, continue to die, and take reincarnation again. ||2||

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਤਕਾਲਿ ਖਿਨੁ ਟਿਕਣ ਨ ਦਿਤੇ ॥

ni(n)dhak maare tatakaal khin Tikan na dhite ||

The slanderers are destroyed in an instant; they are not spared for even a moment.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਖਵਿ ਸਕਹਿ ਫੜਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਜੁਤੇ ॥

prabh dhaas kaa dhukh na khav sakeh faR jonee jute ||

God will not endure the sufferings of His slaves, but catching the slanderers, He binds them to the cycle of reincarnation.

ਮਥੇ ਵਾਲਿ ਪਛਾੜਿਅਨੁ ਜਮ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਮੁਤੇ ॥

mathe vaal pachhaaRian jam maarag mute ||

ਦੁਖਿ ਲਗੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਣਿਆ ਨਰਕਿ ਘੋਰਿ ਸੁਤੇ ॥

dhukh lagai bilalaaniaa narak ghor sute ||

They cry out in pain, in the darkest of hells.

ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਦਾਸ ਰਖਿਅਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਤੇ ॥੨੦॥

ka(n)Th lai dhaas rakhian naanak har sate ||20||

But hugging His slaves close to His Heart, O Nanak, the True Lord saves them. ||20||

ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥

raam japahu vaddabhaageeho jal thal pooran soi ||

Meditate on the Lord, O fortunate ones; He is pervading the waters and the earth.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਧਿਆਇਐ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥

naanak naam dhiaaiaai bighan na laagai koi ||1||

O Nanak, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and no misfortune shall strike you. ||1||

ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਘਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਾਗਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਉ ॥

koT bighan tis laagate jis no visarai naau ||

Millions of misfortunes block the way of one who forgets the Name of the Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਬਿਲਪਤੇ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਾਉ ॥੨॥

naanak anadhin bilapate jiau su(n)n(j)ai ghar kaau ||2||

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਿਆ ॥

simar simar dhaataar manorath pooriaa ||

Meditating, meditating in remembrance of the Great Giver, one's heart's desires are fulfilled.

ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਗਏ ਵਿਸੂਰਿਆ ॥

eichh pu(n)nee man aas ge visooriaa ||

The hopes and desires of the mind are realized, and sorrows are forgotten.

ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਭਾਲਦਾ ॥

paiaa naam nidhaan jis no bhaaladhaa ||

The treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is obtained; I have searched for it for so long.

ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਘਾਲਦਾ ॥

jot milee sa(n)g jot rahiaa ghaaladhaa ||

My light is merged into the Light, and my labors are over.

ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਵੁਠੇ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ॥

sookh sahaj aana(n)dh vuThe tit ghar ||

I abide in that house of peace, poise and bliss.

ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਤਹਾ ਮਰਿ ॥

aavan jaan rahe janam na tahaa mar ||

My comings and goings have ended - there is no birth or death there.

ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਇਕੁ ਇਕੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥

saahib sevak ik ik dhirasaTaiaa ||

The Master and the servant have become one, with no sense of separation.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੨੧॥੧॥੨॥ ਸੁਧੁ
