ਐਸੋ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਪੇਖਨਾ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਪਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥

aaiso ih sa(n)saar pekhanaa rahan na kouoo pieehai re ||

This world is a drama; no one can remain here.

ਸੂਧੇ ਸੂਧੇ ਰੇਗਿ ਚਲਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਨਤਰ ਕੁਧਕਾ ਦਿਵਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

soodhe soodhe reg chalahu tum natar kudhakaa dhivieehai re ||1|| rahaau ||

Walk the straight path; otherwise, you will be pushed around. ||1||Pause||

ਬਾਰੇ ਬੂਢੇ ਤਰੁਨੇ ਭਈਆ ਸਭਹੂ ਜਮੁ ਲੈ ਜਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥

baare boodde tarune bhieeaa sabhahoo jam lai jieehai re ||

The children, the young and the old, O Siblings of Destiny, will be taken away by the Messenger of Death.

ਮਾਨਸੁ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਮੂਸਾ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੀਚੁ ਬਿਲਈਆ ਖਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥

maanas bapuraa moosaa keeno meech bilieeaa khieehai re ||1||

The Lord has made the poor man a mouse, and the cat of Death is eating him up. ||1||

ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਅਰੁ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਮਨਈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥

dhanava(n)taa ar niradhan maniee taa kee kachhoo na kaanee re ||

It gives no special consideration to either the rich or the poor.

ਰਾਜਾ ਪਰਜਾ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰੈ ਐਸੋ ਕਾਲੁ ਬਡਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥੨॥

raajaa parajaa sam kar maarai aaiso kaal baddaanee re ||2||

The king and his subjects are equally killed; such is the power of Death. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਏ ਤਿਨੑ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥

har ke sevak jo har bhaae tin(h) kee kathaa niraaree re ||

Those who are pleasing to the Lord are the servants of the Lord; their story is unique and singular.

ਆਵਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਮਰਤੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੰਗਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥੩॥

aaveh na jaeh na kabahoo marate paarabraham sa(n)gaaree re ||3||

They do not come and go, and they never die; they remain with the Supreme Lord God. ||3||

ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਲਛਿਮੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਇਹੈ ਤਜਹੁ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥

putr kalatr lachhimee maiaa ihai tajahu jeea jaanee re ||

Know this in your soul, that by renouncing your children, spouse, wealth and property

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮਿਲਿਹੈ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥

kahat kabeer sunahu re sa(n)tahu milihai saarigapaanee re ||4||1||

- says Kabeer, listen, O Saints - you shall be united with the Lord of the Universe. ||4||1||

ਬਿਦਿਆ ਨ ਪਰਉ ਬਾਦੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਉ ॥

bidhiaa na parau baadh nahee jaanau ||

I do not read books of knowledge, and I do not understand the debates.

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਕਥਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਬਉਰਾਨੋ ॥੧॥

har gun kathat sunat bauraano ||1||

I have gone insane, chanting and hearing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਮੈ ਬਉਰਾ ਸਭ ਖਲਕ ਸੈਆਨੀ ਮੈ ਬਉਰਾ ॥

mere baabaa mai bauraa sabh khalak saiaanee mai bauraa ||

O my father, I have gone insane; the whole world is sane, and I am insane.

ਮੈ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ਬਿਗਰੈ ਮਤਿ ਅਉਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

mai bigario bigarai mat aauraa ||1|| rahaau ||

I am spoiled; let no one else be spoiled like me. ||1||Pause||

ਆਪਿ ਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਕੀਓ ਬਉਰਾ ॥

aap na bauraa raam keeo bauraa ||

I have not made myself go insane - the Lord made me go insane.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਰਿ ਗਇਓ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਮੋਰਾ ॥੨॥

satigur jaar gio bhram moraa ||2||

The True Guru has burnt away my doubt. ||2||

ਮੈ ਬਿਗਰੇ ਅਪਨੀ ਮਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥

mai bigare apanee mat khoiee ||

I am spoiled; I have lost my intellect.

ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲਉ ਮਤਿ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥

mere bharam bhoolau mat koiee ||3||

Let no one go astray in doubt like me. ||3||

ਸੋ ਬਉਰਾ ਜੋ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥

so bauraa jo aap na pachhaanai ||

He alone is insane, who does not understand himself.

ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ਤ ਏਕੈ ਜਾਨੈ ॥੪॥

aap pachhaanai ta ekai jaanai ||4||

When he understands himself, then he knows the One Lord. ||4||

ਅਬਹਿ ਨ ਮਾਤਾ ਸੁ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਮਾਤਾ ॥

abeh na maataa su kabahu na maataa ||

One who is not intoxicated with the Lord now, shall never be intoxicated.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੫॥੨॥

keh kabeer raamai ra(n)g raataa ||5||2||

Says Kabeer, I am imbued with the Lord's Love. ||5||2||

ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਬਨ ਖੰਡ ਜਾਈਐ ਚੁਨਿ ਖਾਈਐ ਕੰਦਾ ॥

girahu taj ban kha(n)dd jaieeaai chun khaieeaai ka(n)dhaa ||

Abandoning his household, he may go to the forest, and live by eating roots;

ਅਜਹੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਨ ਛੋਡਈ ਪਾਪੀ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਦਾ ॥੧॥

ajahu bikaar na chhoddiee paapee man ma(n)dhaa ||1||

but even so, his sinful, evil mind does not renounce corruption. ||1||

ਕਿਉ ਛੂਟਉ ਕੈਸੇ ਤਰਉ ਭਵਜਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

kiau chhooTau kaise tarau bhavajal nidh bhaaree ||

How can anyone be saved? How can anyone cross over the terrifying world-ocean?

ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੀਠੁਲਾ ਜਨੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

raakh raakh mere beeThulaa jan saran tum(h)aaree ||1|| rahaau ||

Save me, save me, O my Lord! Your humble servant seeks Your Sanctuary. ||1||Pause||

ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਖੈ ਕੀ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਤਜੀਅ ਨਹ ਜਾਈ ॥

bikhai bikhai kee baasanaa tajeea neh jaiee ||

I cannot escape my desire for sin and corruption.

ਅਨਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੀਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਲਪਟਾਈ ॥੨॥

anik jatan kar raakheeaai fir fir lapaTaiee ||2||

I make all sorts of efforts to hold back from this desire, but it clings to me, again and again. ||2||

ਜਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਗਇਆ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਆ ਨ ਨੀਕਾ ॥

jaraa jeevan joban giaa kichh keeaa na neekaa ||

Youth and old age - my entire life has passed, but I haven't done any good.

ਇਹੁ ਜੀਅਰਾ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੋ ਕਉਡੀ ਲਗਿ ਮੀਕਾ ॥੩॥

eih jeearaa niramolako kauddee lag meekaa ||3||

This priceless soul has been treated as if if were worth no more than a shell. ||3||

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਧਵਾ ਤੂ ਸਰਬ ਬਿਆਪੀ ॥

kahu kabeer mere maadhavaa too sarab biaapee ||

Says Kabeer, O my Lord, You are contained in all.

ਤੁਮ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਪਾਪੀ ॥੪॥੩॥

tum samasar naahee dhiaal moh samasar paapee ||4||3||

There is none as merciful as You are, and none as sinful as I am. ||4||3||

ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਕੋਰੀ ਗਾਗਰਿ ਆਨੈ ਲੀਪਤ ਜੀਉ ਗਇਓ ॥

nit uTh koree gaagar aanai leepat jeeau gio ||

Every day, he rises early, and brings a fresh clay pot; he passes his life embellishing and glazing it.

ਤਾਨਾ ਬਾਨਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਲਪਟਿਓ ॥੧॥

taanaa baanaa kachhoo na soojhai har har ras lapaTio ||1||

He does not think at all of worldly weaving; he is absorbed in the subtle essence of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

ਹਮਾਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਕਉਨੇ ਰਾਮੁ ਕਹਿਓ ॥

hamaare kul kaune raam kahio ||

Who in our family has ever chanted the Name of the Lord?

ਜਬ ਕੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਲਈ ਨਿਪੂਤੇ ਤਬ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਭਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jab kee maalaa liee nipoote tab te sukh na bhio ||1|| rahaau ||

Ever since this worthless son of mine began chanting with his mala, we have had no peace at all! ||1||Pause||

ਸੁਨਹੁ ਜਿਠਾਨੀ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਦਿਰਾਨੀ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਏਕੁ ਭਇਓ ॥

sunahu jiThaanee sunahu dhiraanee acharaj ek bhio ||

Listen, O my sisters-in-law, a wondrous thing has happened!

ਸਾਤ ਸੂਤ ਇਨਿ ਮੁਡੀਂਏ ਖੋਏ ਇਹੁ ਮੁਡੀਆ ਕਿਉ ਨ ਮੁਇਓ ॥੨॥

saat soot in muddee(n)e khoe ih muddeeaa kiau na muio ||2||

This boy has ruined our weaving business. Why didn't he simply die? ||2||

ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਕਾ ਏਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਇਓ ॥

sarab sukhaa kaa ek har suaamee so gur naam dhio ||

O mother, the One Lord, the Lord and Master, is the source of all peace. The Guru has blessed me with His Name.

ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਾਖੀ ਹਰਨਾਖਸੁ ਨਖ ਬਿਦਰਿਓ ॥੩॥

sa(n)t prahalaadh kee paij jin raakhee haranaakhas nakh bidhario ||3||

He preserved the honor of Prahlaad, and destroyed Harnaakhash with his nails. ||3||

ਘਰ ਕੇ ਦੇਵ ਪਿਤਰ ਕੀ ਛੋਡੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਲਇਓ ॥

ghar ke dhev pitar kee chhoddee gur ko sabadh lio ||

I have renounced the gods and ancestors of my house, for the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸਗਲ ਪਾਪ ਖੰਡਨੁ ਸੰਤਹ ਲੈ ਉਧਰਿਓ ॥੪॥੪॥

kahat kabeer sagal paap kha(n)ddan sa(n)teh lai udhario ||4||4||

Says Kabeer, God is the Destroyer of all sins; He is the Saving Grace of His Saints. ||4||4||

ਕੋਊ ਹਰਿ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਰਾਜਾ ॥

kouoo har samaan nahee raajaa ||

There is no king equal to the Lord.

ਏ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਸਭ ਦਿਵਸ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਕਰਤ ਦਿਵਾਜਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

e bhoopat sabh dhivas chaar ke jhooThe karat dhivaajaa ||1|| rahaau ||

All these lords of the world last for only a few days, putting on their false displays. ||1||Pause||

ਤੇਰੋ ਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੋਇ ਕਤ ਡੋਲੈ ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਪਰ ਛਾਜਾ ॥

tero jan hoi soi kat ddolai teen bhavan par chhaajaa ||

How can Your humble servant waver? You spread Your shadow over the three worlds.

ਹਾਥੁ ਪਸਾਰਿ ਸਕੈ ਕੋ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਬੋਲਿ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਅੰਦਾਜਾ ॥੧॥

haath pasaar sakai ko jan kau bol sakai na a(n)dhaajaa ||1||

Who can raise his hand against Your humble servant? No one can describe the Lord's expanse. ||1||

ਚੇਤਿ ਅਚੇਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਜਾ ॥

chet achet mooR man mere baaje anahadh baajaa ||

Remember Him, O my thoughtless and foolish mind, and the unstruck melody of the sound current will resonate and resound.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੰਸਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਚੂਕੋ ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਨਿਵਾਜਾ ॥੨॥੫॥

keh kabeer sa(n)saa bhram chooko dhraoo prahilaadh nivaajaa ||2||5||

Says Kabeer, my skepticism and doubt have been dispelled; the Lord has exalted me, as He did Dhroo and Prahlaad. ||2||5||

ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਬਿਗਰੀ ॥

raakh leh ham te bigaree ||

Save me! I have disobeyed You.

ਸੀਲੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਜਪੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਹਉ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਟੇਢ ਪਗਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

seel dharam jap bhagat na keenee hau abhimaan Tedd pagaree ||1|| rahaau ||

I have not practiced humility, righteousness or devotional worship; I am proud and egotistical, and I have taken a crooked path. ||1||Pause||

ਅਮਰ ਜਾਨਿ ਸੰਚੀ ਇਹ ਕਾਇਆ ਇਹ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਕਾਚੀ ਗਗਰੀ ॥

amar jaan sa(n)chee ieh kaiaa ieh mithiaa kaachee gagaree ||

Believing this body to be immortal, I pampered it, but it is a fragile and perishable vessel.

ਜਿਨਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਜਿ ਸਾਜਿ ਹਮ ਕੀਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਅਵਰ ਲਗਰੀ ॥੧॥

jineh nivaaj saaj ham ke'ee tiseh bisaar avar lagaree ||1||

Forgetting the Lord who formed, fashioned and embellished me, I have become attached to another. ||1||

ਸੰਧਿਕ ਤੋਹਿ ਸਾਧ ਨਹੀ ਕਹੀਅਉ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਪਗਰੀ ॥

sa(n)dhik toh saadh nahee kaheeaau saran pare tumaree pagaree ||

I am Your thief; I cannot be called holy. I have fallen at Your feet, seeking Your Sanctuary.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਹ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਸੁਨੀਅਹੁ ਮਤ ਘਾਲਹੁ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਖਬਰੀ ॥੨॥੬॥

keh kabeer ieh binatee suneeahu mat ghaalahu jam kee khabaree ||2||6||

Says Kabeer, please listen to this prayer of mine, O Lord; please do not send me sommons of the Messenger of Death. ||2||6||

ਦਰਮਾਦੇ ਠਾਢੇ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥

dharamaadhe Thaadde dharabaar ||

I stand humbly at Your Court.

ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਕੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਖੋਲਿੑ ਕਿਵਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

tujh bin surat karai ko meree dharasan dheejai kholi(h) kivaar ||1|| rahaau ||

Who else can take care of me, other than You? Please open Your door, and grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||1||Pause||

ਤੁਮ ਧਨ ਧਨੀ ਉਦਾਰ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਨੑ ਸੁਨੀਅਤੁ ਸੁਜਸੁ ਤੁਮੑਾਰ ॥

tum dhan dhanee udhaar tiaagee sravanan(h) suneeat sujas tum(h)aar ||

You are the richest of the rich, generous and unattached. With my ears, I listen to Your Praises.

ਮਾਗਉ ਕਾਹਿ ਰੰਕ ਸਭ ਦੇਖਉ ਤੁਮੑ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੋ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

maagau kaeh ra(n)k sabh dhekhau tum(h) hee te mero nisataar ||1||

From whom should I beg? I see that all are beggars. My salvation comes only from You. ||1||

ਜੈਦੇਉ ਨਾਮਾ ਬਿਪ ਸੁਦਾਮਾ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਭਈ ਹੈ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

jaidheau naamaa bip sudhaamaa tin kau kirapaa bhiee hai apaar ||

You blessed Jai Dayv, Naam Dayv and Sudaamaa the Brahmin with Your infinite mercy.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥ ਦਾਤੇ ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੇਤ ਨ ਬਾਰ ॥੨॥੭॥

keh kabeer tum sa(n)mrath dhaate chaar padhaarath dhet na baar ||2||7||

Says Kabeer, You are the All-powerful Lord, the Great Giver; in an instant, You bestow the four great blessings. ||2||7||

ਡੰਡਾ ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਆਧਾਰੀ ॥

dda(n)ddaa mu(n)dhraa khi(n)thaa aadhaaree ||

He has a walking stick, ear-rings, a patched coat and a begging bowl.

ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਭਵੈ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

bhram kai bhai bhavai bhekhadhaaree ||1||

Wearing the robes of a beggar, he wanders around, deluded by doubt. ||1||

ਆਸਨੁ ਪਵਨ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਵਰੇ ॥

aasan pavan dhoor kar bavare ||

Abandon your Yogic postures and breath control exercises, O madman.

ਛੋਡਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਬਵਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

chhodd kapaT nit har bhaj bavare ||1|| rahaau ||

Renounce fraud and deception, and meditate continuously on the Lord, O madman. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਹ ਤੂ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਨ ਭੋਗੀ ॥

jeh too jaacheh so tirabhavan bhogee ||

That which you beg for, has been enjoyed in the three worlds.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਕੇਸੌ ਜਗਿ ਜੋਗੀ ॥੨॥੮॥

keh kabeer kesau jag jogee ||2||8||

Says Kabeer, the Lord is the only Yogi in the world. ||2||8||

ਇਨਿੑ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਤੁਮੑਰੇ ਚਰਨ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ॥

eini(h) maiaa jagadhees gusaiee tum(h)re charan bisaare ||

This Maya has made me forget Your feet, O Lord of the World, Master of the Universe.

ਕਿੰਚਤ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਉਪਜੈ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਜਨ ਕਹਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੇਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ki(n)chat preet na upajai jan kau jan kahaa kareh bechaare ||1|| rahaau ||

Not even a bit of love wells up in Your humble servant; what can Your poor servant do? ||1||Pause||

ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਤਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਫੰਨੀ ॥

dhirag tan dhirag dhan dhirag ieh maiaa dhirag dhirag mat budh fa(n)nee ||

Cursed is the body, cursed is the wealth, and cursed is this Maya; cursed, cursed is the clever intellect and understanding.

ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਬਾਂਧੇ ਆਪ ਬਚੰਨੀ ॥੧॥

eis maiaa kau dhiraR kar raakhahu baa(n)dhe aap bacha(n)nee ||1||

Restrain and hold back this Maya; overcome it, through the Word of the Guru's Teachings. ||1||

ਕਿਆ ਖੇਤੀ ਕਿਆ ਲੇਵਾ ਦੇਈ ਪਰਪੰਚ ਝੂਠੁ ਗੁਮਾਨਾ ॥

kiaa khetee kiaa levaa dheiee parapa(n)ch jhooTh gumaanaa ||

What good is farming, and what good is trading? Worldly entanglements and pride are false.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਤੇ ਅੰਤਿ ਬਿਗੂਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਨਿਦਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੯॥

keh kabeer te a(n)t bigoote aaiaa kaal nidhaanaa ||2||9||

Says Kabeer, in the end, they are ruined; ultimately, Death will come for them. ||2||9||

ਸਰੀਰ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਭੀਤਰੇ ਆਛੈ ਕਮਲ ਅਨੂਪ ॥

sareer sarovar bheetare aachhai kamal anoop ||

Within the pool of the body, there is an incomparably beautiful lotus flower.

ਪਰਮ ਜੋਤਿ ਪੁਰਖੋਤਮੋ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੂਪ ॥੧॥

param jot purakhotamo jaa kai rekh na roop ||1||

Within it, is the Supreme Light, the Supreme Soul, who has no feature or form. ||1||

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਜਹੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

re man har bhaj bhram tajahu jagajeevan raam ||1|| rahaau ||

O my mind, vibrate, meditate on the Lord, and forsake your doubt. The Lord is the Life of the World. ||1||Pause||

ਆਵਤ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਦੀਸਈ ਨਹ ਦੀਸੈ ਜਾਤ ॥

aavat kachhoo na dheesiee neh dheesai jaat ||

Nothing is seen coming into the world, and nothing is seen leaving it.

ਜਹ ਉਪਜੈ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਤਹੀ ਜੈਸੇ ਪੁਰਿਵਨ ਪਾਤ ॥੨॥

jeh upajai binasai tahee jaise purivan paat ||2||

Where the body is born, there it dies, like the leaves of the water-lily. ||2||

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਜੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥

mithiaa kar maiaa tajee sukh sahaj beechaar ||

Maya is false and transitory; forsaking it, one obtains peaceful, celestial contemplation.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੰਝਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੩॥੧੦॥

keh kabeer sevaa karahu man ma(n)jh muraar ||3||10||

Says Kabeer, serve Him within your mind; He is the Enemy of ego, the Destroyer of demons. ||3||10||

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥

janam maran kaa bhram giaa gobidh liv laagee ||

The illusion of birth and death is gone; I lovingly focus on the Lord of the Universe.

ਜੀਵਤ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਨਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਜਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jeevat su(n)n samaaniaa gur saakhee jaagee ||1|| rahaau ||

In my life, I am absorbed in deep silent meditation; the Guru's Teachings have awakened me. ||1||Pause||

ਕਾਸੀ ਤੇ ਧੁਨਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਧੁਨਿ ਕਾਸੀ ਜਾਈ ॥

kaasee te dhun uoopajai dhun kaasee jaiee ||

The sound made from bronze, that sound goes into the bronze again.

ਕਾਸੀ ਫੂਟੀ ਪੰਡਿਤਾ ਧੁਨਿ ਕਹਾਂ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥

kaasee fooTee pa(n)dditaa dhun kahaa(n) samaiee ||1||

But when the bronze is broken, O Pandit, O religious scholar, where does the sound go then? ||1||

ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਸੰਧਿ ਮੈ ਪੇਖਿਆ ਘਟ ਹੂ ਘਟ ਜਾਗੀ ॥

tirakuTee sa(n)dh mai pekhiaa ghaT hoo ghaT jaagee ||

I gaze upon the world, the confluence of the three qualities; God is awake and aware in each and every heart.

ਐਸੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਮਾਚਰੀ ਘਟ ਮਾਹਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥੨॥

aaisee budh samaacharee ghaT maeh tiaagee ||2||

Such is the understanding revealed to me; within my heart, I have become a detached renunciate. ||2||

ਆਪੁ ਆਪ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤੇਜ ਤੇਜੁ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥

aap aap te jaaniaa tej tej samaanaa ||

I have come to know my own self, and my light has merged in the Light.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਬ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥੩॥੧੧॥

kahu kabeer ab jaaniaa gobidh man maanaa ||3||11||

Says Kabeer, now I know the Lord of the Universe, and my mind is satisfied. ||3||11||

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸਹਿ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਡੋਲੈ ਦੇਵ ॥

charan kamal jaa kai ridhai baseh so jan kiau ddolai dhev ||

When Your Lotus Feet dwell within one's heart, why should that person waver, O Divine Lord?

ਮਾਨੌ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਜਸੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਦੇਵ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

maanau sabh sukh nau nidh taa kai sahaj sahaj jas bolai dhev || rahaau ||

I know that all comforts, and the nine treasures, come to one who intuitively, naturally, chants the Praise of the Divine Lord. ||Pause||

ਤਬ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਜਉ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖੈ ਕੁਟਿਲ ਗਾਂਠਿ ਜਬ ਖੋਲੈ ਦੇਵ ॥

tab ieh mat jau sabh meh pekhai kuTil gaa(n)Th jab kholai dhev ||

Such wisdom comes, only when one sees the Lord in all, and unties the knot of hypocrisy.

ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਅਟਕੈ ਲੈ ਨਰਜਾ ਮਨੁ ਤੋਲੈ ਦੇਵ ॥੧॥

baara(n) baar maiaa te aTakai lai narajaa man tolai dhev ||1||

Time and time again, he must hold himself back from Maya; let him take the scale of the Lord, and weigh his mind. ||1||

ਜਹ ਉਹੁ ਜਾਇ ਤਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਾਸੁ ਨ ਝੋਲੈ ਦੇਵ ॥

jeh uh jai tahee sukh paavai maiaa taas na jholai dhev ||

Then wherever he goes, he will find peace, and Maya will not shake him.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕੀਓ ਲੈ ਦੇਵ ॥੨॥੧੨॥

keh kabeer meraa man maaniaa raam preet keeo lai dhev ||2||12||

Says Kabeer, my mind believes in the Lord; I am absorbed in the Love of the Divine Lord. ||2||12||

ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਨਾ ॥

safal janam mo kau gur keenaa ||

The Guru has made my life fruitful.

ਦੁਖ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੀਨਾ ॥੧॥

dhukh bisaar sukh a(n)tar leenaa ||1||

My pain is forgotten, and I have found peace deep within myself. ||1||

ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥

giaan a(n)jan mo kau gur dheenaa ||

The Guru has blessed me with the ointment of spiritual wisdom.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਮਨ ਹੀਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

raam naam bin jeevan man heenaa ||1|| rahaau ||

Without the Lord's Name, life is mindless. ||1||Pause||

ਨਾਮਦੇਇ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥

naamadhei simaran kar jaanaa(n) ||

Meditating in remembrance, Naam Dayv has come to know the Lord.

ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਸਿਉ ਜੀਉ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ॥੨॥੧॥

jagajeevan siau jeeau samaanaa(n) ||2||1||

His soul is blended with the Lord, the Life of the World. ||2||1||

ਦਾਰਿਦੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਹਸੈ ਐਸੀ ਦਸਾ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥

dhaaridh dhekh sabh ko hasai aaisee dhasaa hamaaree ||

Seeing my poverty, everyone laughed. Such was my condition.

ਅਸਟ ਦਸਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਰ ਤਲੈ ਸਭ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

asaT dhasaa sidh kar talai sabh kirapaa tumaaree ||1||

Now, I hold the eighteen miraculous spiritual powers in the palm of my hand; everything is by Your Grace. ||1||

ਤੂ ਜਾਨਤ ਮੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨ ਰਾਮ ॥

too jaanat mai kichh nahee bhav kha(n)ddan raam ||

You know, and I am nothing, O Lord, Destroyer of fear.

ਸਗਲ ਜੀਅ ਸਰਨਾਗਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sagal jeea saranaagatee prabh pooran kaam ||1|| rahaau ||

All beings seek Your Sanctuary, O God, Fulfiller, Resolver of our affairs. ||1||Pause||

ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨਾਗਤਾ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਭਾਰੁ ॥

jo teree saranaagataa tin naahee bhaar ||

Whoever enters Your Sanctuary, is relieved of his burden of sin.

ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਤਰੇ ਆਲਜੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

uooch neech tum te tare aalaj sa(n)saar ||2||

You have saved the high and the low from the shameless world. ||2||

ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਬਹੁ ਕਾਇ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥

keh ravidhaas akath kathaa bahu kai kareejai ||

Says Ravi Daas, what more can be said about the Unspoken Speech?

ਜੈਸਾ ਤੂ ਤੈਸਾ ਤੁਹੀ ਕਿਆ ਉਪਮਾ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੩॥੧॥

jaisaa too taisaa tuhee kiaa upamaa dheejai ||3||1||

Whatever You are, You are, O Lord; how can anything compare with Your Praises? ||3||1||

ਜਿਹ ਕੁਲ ਸਾਧੁ ਬੈਸਨੌ ਹੋਇ ॥

jeh kul saadh baisanau hoi ||

That family, into which a holy person is born,

ਬਰਨ ਅਬਰਨ ਰੰਕੁ ਨਹੀ ਈਸੁਰੁ ਬਿਮਲ ਬਾਸੁ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਜਗਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

baran abaran ra(n)k nahee ieesur bimal baas jaaneeaai jag soi ||1|| rahaau ||

whether of high or low social class, whether rich or poor, shall have its pure fragrance spread all over the world. ||1||Pause||

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਨ ਬੈਸ ਸੂਦ ਅਰੁ ਖੵਤ੍ਰੀ ਡੋਮ ਚੰਡਾਰ ਮਲੇਛ ਮਨ ਸੋਇ ॥

brahaman bais soodh ar khayetree ddom cha(n)ddaar malechh man soi ||

Whether he is a Brahmin, a Vaishya, a Soodra, or a Kh'shaatriya; whether he is a poet, an outcaste, or a filthy-minded person,

ਹੋਇ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਭਜਨ ਤੇ ਆਪੁ ਤਾਰਿ ਤਾਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਦੋਇ ॥੧॥

hoi puneet bhagava(n)t bhajan te aap taar taare kul dhoi ||1||

he becomes pure, by meditating on the Lord God. He saves himself, and the families of both his parents. ||1||

ਧੰਨਿ ਸੁ ਗਾਉ ਧੰਨਿ ਸੋ ਠਾਉ ਧੰਨਿ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਭ ਲੋਇ ॥

dha(n)n su gaau dha(n)n so Thaau dha(n)n puneet kuTa(n)b sabh loi ||

Blessed is that village, and blessed is the place of his birth; blessed is his pure family, throughout all the worlds.

ਜਿਨਿ ਪੀਆ ਸਾਰ ਰਸੁ ਤਜੇ ਆਨ ਰਸ ਹੋਇ ਰਸ ਮਗਨ ਡਾਰੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਖੋਇ ॥੨॥

jin peeaa saar ras taje aan ras hoi ras magan ddaare bikh khoi ||2||

One who drinks in the sublime essence abandons other tastes; intoxicated with this divine essence, he discards sin and corruption. ||2||

ਪੰਡਿਤ ਸੂਰ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਭਗਤ ਬਰਾਬਰਿ ਅਉਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

pa(n)ddit soor chhatrapat raajaa bhagat baraabar aaur na koi ||

Among the religious scholars, warriors and kings, there is no other equal to the Lord's devotee.

ਜੈਸੇ ਪੁਰੈਨ ਪਾਤ ਰਹੈ ਜਲ ਸਮੀਪ ਭਨਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਜਨਮੇ ਜਗਿ ਓਇ ॥੩॥੨॥

jaise purain paat rahai jal sameep bhan ravidhaas janame jag oi ||3||2||

As the leaves of the water lily float free in the water, says Ravi Daas, so is their life in the world. ||3||2||

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਨੈ ਇਕੁ ਭਇਆ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥

nirap ka(n)niaa ke kaaranai ik bhiaa bhekhadhaaree ||

For a king's daughter, a man disguised himself as Vishnu.

ਕਾਮਾਰਥੀ ਸੁਆਰਥੀ ਵਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

kaamaarathee suaarathee vaa kee paij savaaree ||1||

He did it for sexual exploitation, and for selfish motives, but the Lord protected his honor. ||1||

ਤਵ ਗੁਨ ਕਹਾ ਜਗਤ ਗੁਰਾ ਜਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਨਾਸੈ ॥

tav gun kahaa jagat guraa jau karam na naasai ||

What is Your value, O Guru of the world, if You will not erase the karma of my past actions?

ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਨ ਕਤ ਜਾਈਐ ਜਉ ਜੰਬੁਕੁ ਗ੍ਰਾਸੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

si(n)gh saran kat jaieeaai jau ja(n)buk graasai ||1|| rahaau ||

Why seek safety from a lion, if one is to be eaten by a jackal? ||1||Pause||

ਏਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਜਲ ਕਾਰਨੇ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

ek boo(n)dh jal kaarane chaatirak dhukh paavai ||

For the sake of a single rain-drop, the rainbird suffers in pain.

ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਗਏ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥

praan ge saagar milai fun kaam na aavai ||2||

When its breath of life is gone, even an ocean is of no use to it. ||2||

ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਜੁ ਥਾਕੇ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੈਸੇ ਬਿਰਮਾਵਉ ॥

praan ju thaake thir nahee kaise biramaavau ||

Now, my life has grown weary, and I shall not last much longer; how can I be patient?

ਬੂਡਿ ਮੂਏ ਨਉਕਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਕਹੁ ਕਾਹਿ ਚਢਾਵਉ ॥੩॥

boodd mooe naukaa milai kahu kaeh chaddaavau ||3||

If I drown and die, and then a boat comes along, tell me, how shall I climb aboard? ||3||

ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਹਉ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਹਿ ਨ ਮੋਰਾ ॥

mai naahee kachh hau nahee kichh aaeh na moraa ||

I am nothing, I have nothing, and nothing belongs to me.

ਅਉਸਰ ਲਜਾ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਧਨਾ ਜਨੁ ਤੋਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥

aausar lajaa raakh leh sadhanaa jan toraa ||4||1||

Now, protect my honor; Sadhana is Your humble servant. ||4||1||
